Family Holidays in Hurghada Egypt
Hurghada in Egypt lies on the edge of the Red Sea. It was founded early in the 20th Century and has since become a leading seaside resort within the area as well as now being Egypt’s second largest city. It is an established family holiday destination and offers lots of fun and interesting things to do and see.
One of the main things that this area is known for is its aquatic sports. The combination of warm waters and well looked after unique underwater gardens off the coast mean that a wide variety of rare fish and corals can be seen here. Glass bottom boats, snorkelling and diving are popular ways of seeing these wonderful sights, and not surprisingly this region is quite famous amongst the diving community.
The city has three divisions El Dahar the oldest part of the city, El Memsha the most modern part where you can visit the largest bazaar in the area, and Sekalla which is the area where most of the hotel resorts are located. Hurghada is also close enough to both Luxor and Cairo to make it possible to take day trips to these remarkable cities quite easily.
Local islands off the shore in the Red Sea are quite popular with visitors. Gifitun is popular for people who wish to snorkel and they often hold fish barbecues on the beach afterwards. There are many others which are popular too including Shadwan, Shaab el-Erd, Umm Gammar and Shaab Abu Shiban.
