What is the weather like in Italy in late December? Can you recommend a cruise around Italy?

I’m interested in going to Italy in late December. What is the weather like? Also, can you recommend a cruise line? I’m hoping to go with my 2 cousins. We’re all female…ages 24, 21, and 18.
definitely venice and definitely rome…besides that i’m not positive where else i’d like to go. besides that i haven’t looked too far in detail.

Last December was hot, almost no need to keep the heating on (just from evening); and I live in the north…
Of course next December can be different, you should check closer to that date.

How is January and February to take a trip to Italy (weather)?

I took my family to Italy last December/January, and yes, it was winter, but we dressed in layers so that we could take off jackets, scarves etc as we warmed up as we walked. Every night we could walk out in the night air and not feel the cold – even eating gelato at midnight in beautiful piazzas. There was a light snow cover in Perugia for a day or two in Feb, but it was not a problem. It was coldest in Venice where it was also foggy, but we still stayed out admiring the place by night.

I found winter preferable to the crowds of summer – the Italians were friendly and relaxed. We had the backstreets of Anacapri to ourselves and did not have to line up to see any of the indoor attractions (sorry, except the Vatican).

If you go in winter, I hope you enjoy the refreshing climate as much as I did.
