Choosing the school that best fits your needs can be overwhelming even to the most researched student. Narrowing your options by certain criteria helps you focus on the right colleges or universities providing a much more manageable list of options. Determining whether you’d prefer a traditional brick-and-mortar school or an online university is the first step you should take in this process. After that, selecting schools who offer your intended area of study, extracurricular activities or value-based learning should be priority. Take a peek into each of the schools to learn what programs they offer, the values behind their education and the average cost of a degree. 1. Regent University– Founded by Pat Robertson in 1978 as a coeducational Christian school, Regent University is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. They offer degree programs from associate’s degrees to Ph.D.’s. Courses at Regent University are based on Biblical principles to help students excel in mind and spirit as well as academics. They strive to have all students, faculty, and administration make a significant difference in their communities, cities, nation and world. Each credit hour at Regent University costs $495 and the average degree requires about 120 credit hours. 2. Liberty University– Liberty University is a private liberal arts Christian Evangelical school that was founded in 1971 by Jerry Falwell. The university offers all levels of degrees in more than 45 online university areas of study and 100 specializations. The mission at Liberty University is “to develop Christ-centered men and women with values, knowledge, and skills essential to impact tomorrow’s world.” Tuition at Liberty University ranges from $295 to $455 per credit hour and averages about 120 total credit hours required for a bachelor’s degree. 3. Le Tourneau University– An interdenominational Christian university, Le Tourneau University, teaches the majority of their students through their online programs. The school offers associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as Interdisciplinary Studies (TEACH) and a Texas Teacher Certificate (PACT). Le Tourneau seeks to glorify God by integrating faith, learning and living into their curriculum. They are dedicated to being a green campus and have reduced waste, conserved water, integrated energy management solutions, and instituted recycling programs. Tuition is approximately $23,000 per year for an undergraduate degree at Le Tourneau University. 4. Grand Canyon University – A private, Christian academy, Grand Canyon University is considered an independent, Southern Baptist school. It offers online associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a variety of fields. The school’s curriculum is based from the context of the Christian heritage and the school’s community reflects a committed relationship with Christ. Grand Canyon University’s online program offers a cohort-based model in which students advance together through their core courses. Average tuition for Grand Canyon University is $23,926 per year. 5. Spring Arbor University – Started in the late 1800’s, Spring Arbor University has grown into a liberal arts Christian university with more than 4,000 enrolled students offering associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The school offers a signature four-pronged approach known as the SAU Online Pedagogical Model. The four types of interaction students need to succeed at Spring Arbor University are: Student to Jesus Christ, Student to Student, Student to Instructor, and Student to Content. Online associate’s degree programs have tuition of $300 per credit (62 credits are required). Bachelor’s degrees are accelerated programs that cost $447 per credit (38 required). However, an average of 50 prior credits is required for enrollment. Graduate degrees cost between $452 and $$525 per credit.
