Q: Is it at least at the level of state universities or UC schools? It should at least be more reputable than some community colleges, right?
Q: I am looking for a place for my mom to rent by me. She is an exceptional renter but cannot afford much right now. She is looking for long term
A: The Monrovia City Council has made a strong commitment to housing programs which will benefit all residents, since the heart of any community is stable, well-maintained neighborhoods.
The easiest way to find a place is probably at http://www.hrc-la.org/ just click on the search button under the "rental listings" heading on the left side, about half way down. Then select Monrovia as your city, and fill in your requirements.
If you qualify, you would benefit from applying for HUD or Section 8 housing. Contact the Baldwin Park Housing Authority directly at (626) 960-4011 Ext. 285.
to see if you qualify, and to apply.
Monrovia also has two programs for first time homebuyers which make it much easier to get a home with little credit history, and little money down. Contact: (626) 303-6606.
If you have any general questions not covered by one of the previously mentioned sites, or phone numbers you can call (626) 932-5504 to speak to housing division of the monrovia city government.
Q: my friends neice is 16 and looking for a dance club. i remember going to one when i was 17 and it was across the street from the abbey but i don't know if its still there. are there any in the los angeles/pasadena/monrovia...etc. area?
A: I see this question asked at least once to twice a week on Answers and I only know of one club that allows under age people (in fact, any age).
It's the Troubadour (website: www.troubadour.com)
They allow all ages and they do serve alcohol if you are 21 and over. There are no "in-and-outs" for those under 21 years old so make sure you really want to leave when you walk outside because you are not coming back in.
They have been the venue for many big artists for the past 40 years. Tickets run between $12 and $22. It's a great place to see the new up and coming Urban bands. The stage is right up close to the dance floor and you usually can meet the band(s) after the show and they sign autographs, sell CDs/T-shirts.
Its a really fun club and especially if you are under 21 - I think it's the only club you can get into and has been for many years.
Good luck.
