What would be a good route travelling vietnam from HCM to hanoi? we have 30 days or possibly 23.?

Q: 3 of us are travelling from HCM up to Hanoi from August 5th and wondered what would be a good route to go/where we 'must see'.

A: Must see; Dalat, Nha Trang, Hoi an+++, Hue, Hanoi.
Take the bus out of HCMC to Dalat and Nha Trang. Then use the train to Danang/Hoi an and points north. The train from Danang to Hue is one of the most scenic in the country with beautiful coastal, beach and mountain views. Make sure you do that stretch during the day.

Dalat is a mountain town but really beautiful. It will be nice and cool there and there is lots to see and do.
Nha Trang is the diving center of the country and is basically a big city on the beach. But get out to the islands and you will have a great time. Also, great food in Nha Trang.
Hoi an is the Jewel of Vietnam. A world heritage old town with better beachs than Nha Trang. Great food and really beautiful.
Hue, is more of a historic town. only spare a day or two for this.
Give yourself at least a week in the Hanoi are so you can go to Sapa and Halong bay.

That will let you see the highlights and still have time to enjoy everything.
Have fun

23 to 30 days is really enough to go from HCMC to Hanoi. If you not into the long bus ride, you can fly from HCMC to various destinations such as Nha Trang, Hoi an, Danang etc.. Of course, going by bus, you'll see lot more of the different villages... .
Some of the attractions such as Dalat, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Danang, Hue and Hanoi, These are the main attractions if you're going from HCMC. In between HCMC and Nha Trang is a place call Mui Ne, it is also a beautiful place. Nice place to stop in for a couple of days to relax.

Saigon to Hanoi train in Vietnam.. Possible to stop off in places along the way with a single full leg ticket?

Q: please help!
We are traveling to Hanoi from Saigon via train in September, and were wondering if it's possible to get on and off at our own leisure to visit towns along the coast but only have to pay for the one ticket to Hanoi.

Thanks :)

A: All trains require a reservation, so you need a specific ticket/reservation for each individual train journey you make. If you want to travel from Saigon to Hanoi (or vice versa) stopping off on the way, this is not a problem, but you will need to book it as a series of separate journeys, with a separate ticket for each leg either bought in advance or bought as you go along. You cannot buy an open ticket and hop on and off trains without a reservation.

Check out this great site for all questions that have anything to do with trains, anywhere in the world including Vietnam.

just for a minute or 2.... suggest you plan ahead and just take train to stops along the way then re book and continue...its cheap enough and in sept you should have little problem getting "seats or compartments" ..suggest stopping in hue for 2 nights, da nang[hoi an has no stop] 2 nights in hoi an..then a week in nha trang before heading to sai gon...
... you can probably book all these trips at once in ha noi... ps book at the train station.. travel agents [i have found ] are not only twice the cost but sometimes don't get you what you ask for [eg; lower birth/upper birth etc]
  • L L says:
One ticket one check in and out.

Many traveller book and into train in mid station, so that is impossible to freedom in out anytime, there is a lot buses, choose the one with sleep bed in the bus, (xe buyt giong nam) not "ghe nam"(chair only)normally 2 layer, cheap and comfortable, available 2-3 time per day., no need to worry out of seat if you not travel on saturday sunday.

    Have fun .

Where can i get a Che Guevara T-shirt in Hanoi, Vietnam?

Q:

A: Just about any t-shirt store you go into in Vietnam has Che shirts. They are among the standard shirts.
The Star,
Uncle Ho,
Same same but different,
and on and on. But you should have no problem at all in finding a Che shirt!

do I need a Vietnam visa when I transit in Hanoi airport?

Q: I need your help related to a question about my Vietnam Visa when I transfer in Vietnam.

My visa to Vitenam is for SINGLE ENTRY. I will take Dragon Air to fly to Vietnam on Aug. 5. and then take Dragon Air on Aug. 16 from HANOI to return to HONG KONG.
On Aug 9, I will take Air Asia to leave Vietnam and fly to BKK. After I tour BKK, I will take Air Asia to fly from BKK to HAN again at 6:40 am on Aug 16 and two hours later, take Dragon Air at 10:35 am on Aug 16 to fly to Hong Kong.

My question is, "Do I need to have another Vietnam visa to transfer in Hanoi Airport? or could I
just go to Dragon Air to check in at Hanoi Airport and transfer to Hong Kong?"

Your prompt reply will be highly appreciated.

David

A: Bit of a head spinner to read but NO you don't need a visa as you will be in transit on the 16th. Also to make life a lot easier when you check your bags in at BKK have them checked right through to HK. They will do this and they may also issue you with 2 boarding cards,1 for BKK and 1 for Hanoi as it is the same company,if they don't issue you with a boarding card for HK in BKK then you will have to visit the Transit desk in Hanoi, note i say the Transit desk, you do not visit the Dragon air desk which is in the terminal.
Hope you understand that.
