  isnt the unemployment rate in CA like 12%. I think there is plenty of a workforce available there.

  What's wrong with the legal Mexicans? Are they too special to work? What about the homeless who are always wanting to live on the largesse of working people. What about all the other people who "can't find jobs"?

  Put some of these unemployed that claim they can't find a job to work. it pays more than unemployment, or how about illegals get work visas?
  @ the person below me: Work visa's make a worker documented. Call them what ever you want, illegal immigrants, illegal aliens, undocumented workers, those people are illegal. A person with a work visa is here legallly, and for a set amount of time

  If all illegals were to leave , traffic would move again , violent crime would go down , Hospitals would stay solvent , etc.
  
  I'm for guest worker program but I really don't trust the gov't to do practically anything efficiently .
  
  I'm also willing to pay more for fruits/veg to be imported if quality of life for all legal citizens increases .
  
  P.S. You probably don't live anywhere near Phoenix , if you did , maybe you would have clarity regarding the chaos that illegal immigration has brought . Surely you have seen the news regarding the violence.

  National average for unemploment is about 10%...anyone desperate enough for work and to keep a roof over their family's heads will take whatever job they can get.

  Very few farms hire illegals. Why does everyone think that everyone from Mexico is a farm worker. I am a retired Police Officer on the border of Az. Ca. and Mexico. It is all agriculture here. The illegals walk pass the farms heading north to the cities. 17 percent of the construction jobs in Las Vegas are filled by illegals. Walk onto any construction site. The Trade Unions do nothing because they want them as members if amnesty goes through. There will be no produce picked in Fresno. The Liberals turned off the water to the Central Valley. It cost over ten thousand jobs and the ruin of hundreds of thousands of acres of farms. The Farm Workers Union doesn't allow illegals to work the farms and haven't for years. On top of all that very few produce items are picked by hand. It's all done by machine.
  
  Actually lettuce wrappers were making over $11.00 an hour in the 90's. There are no lettuce pickers. It is done by machine here. The workers sit on a shaded trailer. A conveyor belt move the lettuce up to them, they peel off a few leaves, wrap it and place it in the boxes that also move on a conveyor belt. Then it goes out the back to another trailer where it is stacked and shipped.
