I don't even know where Syria is but check the rates of the long distance service (Onesuite) I use and compare it with the others. Onesuite has some good features so you take note of that too plus they got 24/7 phone support.

Visiting Syria?! How was it? Any impressions, please?

Q: So , i am going to apply for a Syrian visa soon. i want to visit Damascus and some friends I have there. What I should know before going to apply for the visa at the Syrian Embassy and how was your journey there? It was easy to get the visa based on an invitation? Considering I am a girl and young, is there any problem? What are some useful tips for my holiday there?

A: I was there last week. It depends on what you like. If you are interested in history and seeing some culture then you will enjoy it. Syrians are very friendly, polite, helpful and the place is very safe. Dress reasonably conservatively - I don't mean head to toe but not revealing. The various souks, old city, Palmyra and a lot of other places are worth a visit, though a good sense of direction and a lot of time will be useful. It is easy to get there, I went Syrian Airlines, though there were delays either direction. BMI also fly amongst others. Immigration is slow but without problems and travel within the country is easy enough. Once you understand how the system works, you can get buses to other places like Palmyra and they are comfortable and air conditioned. Drink plenty of water - hot in summer. Taxis are fine but ask the price before you get in, or have a local do it for you. It isn't expensive, it is a developing country so some things may not be of the standard you are used to - but nothing shocking. The visa is easy to obtain, I didnt have an invitation, it took a week.
Have a good time.

I doubt you would have much of a problem getting a visa, I was there for 2 years, living in Damascus and loved it! The Syrian people are very friendly and will go out of their way to help someone, however their driving habits leave a lot to be desired, be very careful crossing any street! Places to visit would be the souk, but don't get lost, it is very big but lots of fun. Palmyra, the Roman ruins, which is about 4 hours out of Damascus is a place not to be missed. There are many other great places to visit and I am sure your friends can give you more info.
    Have a great time

Syria massacres Kurds aided by Turkey's Israel-made drones! Why Israel sold those drones to Turkish Regime?

Q: Syrian troops and Kurdish tribesman are locked in fierce battle since the Syrian army blasted four northeastern Kurdish towns and neighborhoods at the end of June. Hundreds of Kurds are reported dead.

The Syrian campaign is backed by Heron (Eitan) spy drones Israel sold Turkey, made accessible on the personal say-so of Prime Minister Tayyip Recep Erdogan.

The drones are being used to track Kurds in flight across Syria's borders, mainly into Lebanon, where Hizballah is helping Syria hunt the refugees down. The accessibility to Damascus of the unmanned aerial vehicles is in direct breach of the Israel-Turkish sales contracts which barred their use - and the use of other Israeli high-tech items sold to Turkey during years of close military collaboration - in the service of hostile states or entities.

Extending their sphere to Syrian and Lebanese skies gives the Syrian army and Hizballah (Iran's external arm) a unique opportunity to study the Heron (Eitan)'s sophisticated attributes in real combat conditions at close hand and adjust their own tactics accordingly to outwit them.

International sources have no doubt that Iranian intelligence officers stationed in Damascus and Beirut jumped at the opportunity to learn more about the Israeli wonder-drones.

Why Israel selling these drones to Turkish Facist Regime and allow Iran and Syria to use it too?

Source :
http://www.debka.com/article/8916/

A: Israel is willing to sell the drones to Turkey because they were allies and Israel needed to cement the Turkish friendship. If they were aware of how these drones were used, I don't know: However, Israel historically has benefited from their alliance from Turkey, which for the longest time was the only Muslim majority state to recognize and hold diplomatic relations with Israel.

One thing that concerns me is that you say that Syria is using the drones. If they knew it was Israeli, then I would've thought that they wouldn't have used it or destroyed it; however, I'm pretty sure they realize Israeli material is superior to anything they could possibly create. Also, if Iran wanted to use them, while it would probably be easier for them to look at the Lebanese and Syrian borrowed drones, considering relations now between Turkey and Israel and the good ones remaining between Turkey and Iran, it wouldn't surprise me if they just allow to look at it in Turkey itself, spitting in their ally's face.

What you might like to know is that the Kurdish people generally see Israel as a ally, or potential ally if Kurdistan is established. Many accuse Israel of helping the Kurds in Iraq and Turkey, and truthfully I think the Israelis rather have the Kurds as an ally than the Turks, and most certainly more than that regime in Iran.

The were paying, why does any one sell anything?

I agree that Syria is evil and turkey is on the verge of becoming evil and could work with Iran and hezbollah, but i am sure Israel doesn't sell anything that could undermine it own security, these drones are probably old enough and newer versions are being used by Israel with different technology which renders the old technology obsolete and good for sell.

It is the same as Russia sells weapons to most of the world, but they don't sell the really good stuff, they don't even show much of it to the west.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJgVaYmiggE&feature=related

only Russia and china basically have those, they even sold few older versions to Iran to get them under their grip against USA with limited power.

Also debka is a bit apocalyptic, take it under consideration when reading that site.

Turkey is a member of NATO, but it has changed its politics as evidenced by the Marmara Affair. Turkey has no right to pass on weapons and munitions to other countries, especially those who are NOT members of NATO. Turkey is flaunting the rules, and by so doing betraying NATO. Turkey would be asked to leave NATO were it not for its strategic position.

Canadian embassy IBAN?

Q: hey guys, I just wanted to apply for my study permit visa at canadian embassy in Damascus, Syria but I can't find the International Bank Account Number (IBAN), does anyone know about that?

A: The IBAN is the bank's international number, just ask the bank they will provide you with an IBAN.

Western Intelligence Diversions?

Q: Here's the scene: Damascus, Syria. The US Embassy has been seized by a Palestinian extremist group named Qyamh* taking over three-hundred hostages from different nations during a welcome reception by the US Ambassador to an International Immigration and Asylum Conference that Syria was hosting.

The authorities find a lead, who tells them that the whole thing is an attention diversion, to distract the western authorities from discovering the shipment of over three-hundred million dollars worth of weapons to Iran.

*Completely fictitious.
__________________________________________________________________________________
Anyway, my question is if this would be a big enough distraction for the CIA and SIS to look elsewhere, whilst the shipment was made?
This is for a novel I'm writing

A: No, because the CIA employs more than 1 person. The CIA is large enough to cope and remember a shipment of this size will take time to organise, collect together and prepare the logistics, so presumably ongoing monitoring will be tracking it. However many stories are based on rather improbable events so I wouldnt let that hamper you. However, Syria and the Palestinans have a good enough understanding for this not to happen, I'd set it in maybe Lebanon or Iraq.
