Q: travelling from the UK to Dallas next week, so excited. we have just started spring here, but still in jeans, long sleeves and a light jacket in the day. What are you wearing in Dallas, what can I expect? I want to leave space for purchases in my suitcase, so don't want to pack too much. any other tips?
A: Bring jeans, short-sleeved shirts, and a light jacket for the evenings. You'll probably want some capri pants and sandals for warm days. Yesterday it was cool and rainy, today is supposed to be stormy, this weekend is supposed to be beautiful. We have already had some very warm, bordering on hot, days but this time of the year is one of the nicest here, in my opinion.
If you suffer from nasal allergies, you'll want to bring your medication. The pollen counts are through the roof.
Try to get to the Sixth Floor Museum. It's really interesting. The Mesquite Rodeo is one of the best in the state. Glen Rose is a small town just south and west of the Metroplex. You can visit Dinosaur Valley State Park and see dinosaur tracks or go to Fossil Rim, a drive-through wildlife safari. Six Flags Over Texas is an amusement park if you like that sort of thing; right now it's only open on the weekends. The Fort Worth Zoo is a great zoo. The Dallas Zoo isn't worth much. I don't know where you are staying, but all of these are within driving distance of anywhere in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Q: My soccer team is playing in a tournament in Oletha, Kansas in November the weekend before Thanksgiving. I'm from Dallas, TX so it's not as cold down here. What is it like in Kansas in November?
A: Being located in the central plains, November weather can be quite varied from one year to the next, thus it is impossible to know this far in advance how this November will turn out. Average conditions there for late November include average daily highs in the upper 40s with average daily lows around 30 degrees. It can be warm, as highs in the 60's and 70's have been recorded, while lows in the single digits and teens have also occurred in the past. It is typically dry and snowfall is rare.

A: Since you're asking about Arlington I assume the boxing match will be at the Cowboy Stadium in Arlington. The Hilton Arlington is rated the #1 hotel in Arlington and is 1.5 miles from the stadium. It's 10 miles from the airport, 15 miles to downtown Ft Worth and 15 miles to downtown Dallas.

Sixth Floor Museum - JFK Memorial in downtown Dallas
A nice way to spend an afternoon is to walk the cobblestone walkways around the Mandalay Canal in Las Colinas (the northern part of Irving) to look at shops, eat at a sidewalk cafe and go for a boat ride in the European style waterway - then check out the bronze mustangs in Williams Square
Another afternoon can be spent at the Dallas Arboretum
For shopping check out Galleria Mall in Dallas - if you get tired of shopping you can ice skate there

According to the 10-day forecast this weekend will be beautiful, continuing through Tuesday and followed by rain. However, in my experience that's likely to change! I think you'll be safe that it won't go below 55, but it may go up into the 80's. Pack for nice weather, but bring some light sweaters/coats and you should be fine!

Best suggestion would be to go to www.weatherunderground.com and the enter dallas texas and it wil give you recent weather and current weather. You can also look to see what the weather was like last year, as that might be the best guess you can get to estimate what it should be like. i would say look at the last 2 weeks currently and then look at a 3 week span, the week before, current week and week after for what it was like in 2007 and that should give you the best estimate at what it might be like.
