Q: I'm headed there the end of the month. I used to love the Mision in the hacienda away from town. There was a lion in a cage on the property! Anyone know if it is still there?
A: Simple yet pleasurable
Q: What are the best shore excursions in Mexico & Grand Cayman thats informative and fun. ????? Im going on a cruise.
A: "Informative & Fun" - Turtle Farm in Grand Cayman or Stingray City. Don't waste your time with any other excursion.
Also, pay strict attention to the number of cruise ships in Georgetown Harbor. If there are 4 or more cruise ships, don't bother leaving the ship -- it will be a zoo in Georgetown.
Q: In case I want to get into the ocean.
A: The short answer is "yes", the long answer is that it depends what beach you go to.
If you go to a beach club then they will definitely have changing facilities.
If you go to a "public beach", e.g. on the island's east coast, then there are no facilities to change, but there are bars/restaurants you could go into and use the bathroom. Or have someone hold a towel up for you to change behind! :o)
If you are in the downtown area, there are some small beaches there, although they are not so nice as the others, and you could again pop into a bar or restaurant to use the bathroom to get changed.
You can find some good informaton about Cozumel beaches here too: www.thisiscozumel.com/beaches
Enjoy!
Q: im going on a trip july 31-august 10 is that a safe time to go? or should i cancel ?
A: Not sure if you're asking about the weather or security, so I'll address both:
Your trip is planned during the summer "hurricane season", so there is always the risk of rain or tropical storms, but the chances of a hurricane are realistically very small and most likely you'll just encounter some scattered showers.
Or, if stories about violence on the Mexico/US border have got you worried bear in mind that those problems are some 1,000 miles away and don't involve tourists. Think of it this way: when there were riots in LA would you have avoided Dallas? :o)
I've been living in Cozumel for over 6 years now and feel safer here than any other place I've lived. Although probably not really advisable, I still often leave my front door unlocked when I go to the local store and have no problem walking home on my own in the early hours.
Cozumel was even named "Island of Peace" last year because of its safe and peaceful reputation. (see: http://thisiscozumel.com/content/view/992/2/ )
In conclusion, I'd say don't cancel unless you really hate huimdity and can change the dates to later in the year without losing money...
Q:
A: I was there recently and it is great! It has pools, beach, spa, kids club, tennis court, beauty salon, bars, disco, restaurants and fitness center! Many people I know have stayed there as well! If you are not as convinced you can look it up right here:

There are so many good restaurants on Cozumel that it is hard to come up with a single favorite. I prefer the smaller, less ostentatious restaurants and at the moment my favorite would probably be El Foco.
Kinta and Especias are very good if you prefer something more artistic.
