thumb a lift to the west coast,

    swim to ireland

and thumb a lift to belfast

    thats the cheapest way lol

but i would say flying if you book the ticket well in advance, if its short notice bus and ferry would be the cheapest
  • wellys tartan skirt says:
check out ryanair i think theyre the cheapest and they fly from george best airport which is central to belfast make sure you check out their luggage charges though
  • Mckilpin says:
A plane. I'd recommend Aer Lingus.

Do taxi services in belfast run 24 hours a day?

Q: I'm getting a flight at 6 in the morning to London from Belfast city airport. I'm new to the city so not sure if there's a taxi service/bus service in the middle of the night as I will need to get a lift at around 5.
Thanks for reading.

A: You are going TO London FROM Belfast?

028 90 809080 is the number for Value Cabs (24hr)
028 90 333333 is the number for Fona Cab (24hr)

I tend not to use these companies, but since you haven't said what part of Belfast you are in I can't give you 'local' numbers.

Nevertheless, Anywhere in Belfast to the City airport should not cost more than £10-15. Don't let them rip you off cos you are new to the area.

You will not get any taxi for London city from Belfast, it is much dangerous. Even any one catch flight to/from Belfast there is a separate counter for this because these areas are very sensitive. Best thing I can advice you to catch a night ferry from Belfast, that is safe as well. best of luck. You can get information regarding ferry through so many sources....see you soon in our city
  • Claire says:
Its Belfast. They are not that backward or uncivilized!!!!
How do you think all the other people on your flight home are going to get to the airport?!

Of course there are taxis and buses available. Ask at the airport when you arrive for a timetable for buses, or a number for a taxi.

Belfast is a great city, full of wonderful characters and people. Its image is a lot different from the reality. It can be a little bit of a culture shock to the english, but its one you should experience.

    Enjoy your stay.
  • I should be doing something else says:
Yes of course. Most of our many taxi companies run 24 hours a day 7 days a week - the biggest ones in Belfast are Valucabs and Fonacab which have been provided to you by another answerer.
  • roger k says:
Yes there are taxis that do run 24 hours, as the other poster has given you the main depot numbers in central Belfast all I will say is enjoy your trip to our fair city.
  • wellys tartan skirt says:
all the taxi cabs run 24 hrs but make sure that you get a local cab service or phone around to get a price as some taxi services especially the ones that wait outside the airport can be really expensive, enjoy your trip.

Whats the deal with the 8 year olds rioting in Belfast?

Q: I know we've got some Northern Irish people on here with kids, some from Belfast.I dont pretend to understand why the riots are happening, but do you allow your young kids out on their own to throw petrol bombs at police and try to push mental bars through their patrol cars? If not, what kind of people do, it doesn't happen over here (I dont think)

A: I think we need to deal with the parents of these kids and want to know why they are allowed to run with the mob. The kids are emulating the older ones but none of them really know why they are doing it apart from the fact it is illegal. Now's the time to rethink the Orange Parade route and keep it away from Catholic areas but saying that the people of Northern Ireland should be integrated and not allowed to form ghettos. By allowing these ghettos they are encouraging ethnic gangs to form and religious intolerance to escalate.

I've never heard of mental bars being pushed through police cars, but I've read some tripe from mental users... ;)
  • Mr White says:
Their parents can't control them. They have become feral and is a sign of what is to come in N.Ireland. If the parents actually cared for their children then they wouldn't be out doing these things. It will happen over here because most of the kids on the streets are the same.

80% of children these days haven't got parents, they think they have but they haven't.
  • why's me says:
it must be a muslim community, the world tells me that only muslims do this, maybe some people have to eat some humble pie
  • Andrew S Combat zone says:
I remember watching a John Wayne movie as a five-year old. He was killing Japanese people during WW2. After the movie I looked out of our living room window and couldn't believe my eyes. A Japanese kid was walking across our front lawn. I ran and asked my mother if I could throw a big rock at him. I noticed right away that she had a strange lack of concern that he was Japanese. I didn't find out until later on that I lived in a multi-ethnic country.
  • teddy says:
that would be as they say the sins of the fathers.
  • † PRAY † says:
comes a point when you have to deal with them as adults.. Lethal force.
I can't believe that they called it "recreational rioting" It is serious and should be dealt with harshly even though these are kids.

Since the British police don't have guns, maybe they could stab them with rubber knives, or beat them with foam clubs.
Really this is an example of the break down of the family and a society gone mad without God.

Everybody enjoys a good riot. Fun for the entire family. I went to my first riot at age ten, had a grand time with my father and uncles.
  • Odlid Deighton says:
they are copying older kids! And adults for that matter!
  • Lincoln6 says:
It has become difficult to believe that there's a God watching religions based on him, to be at each others throats, but the Catholics and Protestants are at it again.
  • Hoekom Jy My Haat says:
Why do the Protestant Majority in Northern Ireland still insist on their Triumphalist Parades each and every marching season.

They have these parades each year, and deliberately march through Catholic areas celebrating the Protestants defeating the Catholics centuries ago.

These parades are no different to having the KKK march though Atlanta. GA. OF COURSE THERE ARE GOING TO BE RIOTS.

If the Protestants stopped being 'poor winners', much of the troubles would end.
  • hello says:
I wouldn't be surprised if it was their parents brainwashing them. How many 8 year olds even knows what the difference between a Catholic and Protestant is? It's pretty clear that far too many people in Northern Ireland and even the Republic are fanatical about their beliefs.

People still support the actions of the provisional IRA today have a look at the comments U2 video for Sunday Bloody Sunday on youtube and you'll be shocked. No-one in their right mind could possibly be proud of the IRA deliberately trying to kill as many innocent people for a cause they failed to achieve. People don't claim bloody Sunday was the right thing to do or that the unionists weren't just as bad but the IRA supporters will never believe a single criticism they are blind to the suffering that group caused.

There was once a man who promoted love and when he came across a woman being stoned to death demanded of the crowd that the person who have never done wrong in their life should cast the first stone. He said that if your enemy strikes you you should show him the other cheek; he said you must love your enemy. You'd think people so proud of being Catholics or Protestants would have heard of him, apparently not, although Gandhi (who wasn't even Christian) did and practised what he preached and defeated the British Empire without a single bullet.

Ireland, North and Republic, needs to sort itself out and the first step is to admit they've done wrong in the past and they don't want their children share their hatred. Don't see it happening anytime soon.
