Is it a good time to travel to bangkok on november? please advise.?

Q: any idea on the weather that will be around that month?

A: Because of my work, the one week, the always works is the 3rd week of November, the Thanksgiving holiday week. So I have been in Bangkok 5 out of the last 6 Novembers since 2004.

it is the start of the busy season for Thailand's tourism. The monsoon or rainy season ends in October supposedly. And the beginning of winter approaches for the northern hemisphere. So the "snow birds" start arriving. Airfares are up about 10-20% or more because of the demand. I just booked my flight on Thai airways which in general is more expensive but, it had the best arrival times and departure times. My airfare is USD 1404 round trip. I same higher ones and lower fares.

Weather? During my 5 visits, the first and last were nice. Hot during the day and cool 74-78 degrees at night. The other 3 visits hot and like 80+ at night. Rained maybe one afternoon each week I was there. Maybe. The 3rd week of November is Loy Khrathong or the Lantern Festival, not a holy holiday per se, It's one where the thai make a wish and float a lantern on water, river, lake, etc. Takes place during the full moon.

Hotels? The hotels do adjust their rates on November first to many travel discounters. You can try individual hotesl but, their websites are generally out of date. Orbitz and Expedia tend to deal with larger hotels and the prices are okay, not great. I use or check rates on Asiarooms.com, Agoda.com, Sawadee.com Try Kayak.com or any of the other hotel search engines. I tend to compare Agoda.com and Sawadee.com for the best prices.

Good luck

Yes anytime is great in thailand
I like October November as its quiet not many tourists around and the weather is pretty much the same to me I am told its cooler in December January but I have not noticed much difference and I am from UK

so yes November a great time if possible I would hang back for December and New Year if possible as its amazing in Bangkok with Decorations and lights
  • Damon says:
Yes, the weather should be quite nice:

The best time to visit Thailand is during the cool season, from November through February, also considered the high season as it is the most popular time to travel due to the pleasant weather. The average temperature is around 25C with low humidity (55%). It can be surprisingly chilly in the north, with temperatures dropping to 7C at night.

Source: Lived there and more info here: http://www.hoteltravel.com/thailand/guides/overview.htm
  • Gerald J says:
November is the beginning of the dry and cooler season, and also the beginning of the tourist season. Towards the middle and end of November, you're likely to get little or no rain with slightly cooler temperatures than the normally hot and steamy weather Bangkok has much of the rest of the year. In early November you might get a little rain, but in general the weather will be drier than during the rainy season.

The only drawback is that hotel prices go up in November, otherwise it's a good time to come.
  • Immimm says:
November is definitely a good time to travel to Thailand since it'll be cooler. Its a high season so prepare to pay higher for accomodation.
  • REGINALD N says:
The weather will be good not much rain and there should be a festival on called Loi Krathong. People make rafrs from nicely colured flowers and put money on them and then let these rafts sail away........this is to bring good luck to the person who releases the raft. This event happens all over Thailand and it depens on when the full moon occurs

How to travel from Paris to Bangkok by Train/bus? or other options?

Q: I Would like to travel from Paris France to Bangkok Thailand, by land and seeing as much (and as cheaply) as possible. Any info on the train or bus routes? I have set aside $6,500 for travel land travel and hope to see as much as Europe and Asia as possible so any ideas? (staying at hostels and homes of course =] )

A: The best way to do this by train is Paris-Moscow, then Trans-Siberian, changing to travel to Beijing, From there the journey gets a little more difficult, but this is the best site to work out world wide rail travel:- http://www.seat61.com/.

Travel via Europe and the Middle East is virtually impossible, due to the lack of regular rail links (or in some countries, any at all) between Turkey and places like Iraq and Syria and onwards - and you might not want to travel in those countries anyway.

Occasionally, there are bus trips from London to the Far East - but you will have to google for these, I can't give you any links.

    hi,
the problem with a land trip is the number of customs you will meet :s
you'll need a schengen visa for the schengen area (maybe not, depend of your nationality), and then, a visa for each country you'll visit.
and between Paris an Bangkok there's a lot of country. It will be very difficult

Siam Square, Sukhumvit or Khao San Road in Bangkok?

Q: I'm traveling to bangkok and would like to stay near the skytrain and all the shopping places. I dont want to be spending a lot, under 1000BHT is what i'm planning. I know KSR is probably the cheapest but dont want to be staying there if it's not convenient to get around, on account of saving a couple hundred BHT.

What would you suggest?

A: There are a couple of inexpensive hotels on Sukh 7/1 - Maxims I think is one - and I think a friend just stayed there for 600 baht because there are some renovations going on - I think there are a cuopel of other places on that soi

Does not matter where you stay as taxi fares are cheap anyway.
Suggest you go to Night Market before shoping in Siam Square.
For cheap hotels go to agoda.com or hotelscombined.com
  • I own you Matt 15:26 says:
Khao San is not near shopping but you can take the 15 bus or Siam Square for about 15 baht. About 20 minutes. The bus stops at the end of Khao San across from the wat (near the 7-11 ( not the end with the Burger King).

We stayed at the Villa Chacha which is not directly on Khao San for 900 per night with WiFi in the room and were very happy. Khao San is close to the Grand Palace and Wat Po.

I have stayed near the Nana BTS on Soi one and unless your interested in 1. Bumrungrad, 2. Nana Entertainment Complex or 3. Speaking with Arabic people, there isn't much to do.
  • Nomad says:
Kho san road is a noisy shit hole might as well go to ibiza if you want to be surrounded by drunk fallang(plus there is no bts station)you are better off staying near Asoke or Nana station, the first person was right just look on agoda.Majestic suites on the Sukhamvit road is a good hotel and its cheaper if you don't want a breakfast(lets face it hotel breakfast 9 times out of 10 are shit)And there are loads of good cheap places to eat local food nearby. Also its slap bang in the middle of all the best shopping(night market, siam plaza and mbk all within 5 minutes)ive been travelling to Thailand since 2005 and have a thai wife and baby boy,so have spent allot of time in Bangkok with visas ext.Alot of these answers think they have friends that stayed there,or they think it is nice,I KNOW WHERE I STAY IS GOOD.
  • Andrew F says:
Reliable hotel I always go to when I stop in 'The Big Mango' is the Honey Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 19.
It's not in any hotel booking sites, so call them on +6622530646.
    3 star WITH POOL!
Currently under refurb, but rooms OK with aircon.
Best rooms are 1,400 baht. But if you ask for a double room with no fridge it will cost 900 baht.
There are also cheaper rooms with doors opening onto the carpark, but I didn't like the sound of cars starting up at 7 O'clock in the morning.
Best location for BTS, MRT and buses.
Only 3 minutes from Robinsons, and McDonald, 8 minutes from Soi Cowboy, 12 minutes walk to Nana, and a quiet road.
They speak English on the phone too, and the price includes one basic breakfast in the coffee shop.
  • wakeuphappy says:
The only way you can sleep on Khao San road is if you get drunk.I have stayed there a few times and was up till 2 or 3 am because of the bass.Just go there for a crazy Mardi Gras style party. Also, all of the shopping places are everywhere in Bangkok and Thailand is the most convenient place to get around I have ever seen in my life for incredibly cheap. What would cost $50.00 for a taxi in America is maybe $2.00 here.I am not sure what your expectations are for a room but you can stay alot cheaper than 1000 baht a night.Take a look at 'Hostelworld.com for places in Thailand. You can get great places for cheap on there.

If you can handle a dodge part of Bangkok stay on Sukhumvit Soi for 750 baht a nite in a room
with a shower and aircon. Nana Skytrain is 5 mins walk from Soi 4 and and will take you to Siam
    Square.

Hotels are expensive in Siam Square and Khao San is far from Siam Square..lots of traffic Jams!
  • karazyal says:
No Skytrain in Khao San Road area!

Meter taxis are cheap if you use the meter and not bargain the fare, buses are cheap too. Tuk-tuks, for Farangs, will cost more than a meter taxi that is using the meter.

Choose a hotel in the Sukhumvit Road (lower number end) so you CAN use the Skytrain. Also in this area you will find hotels in all price ranges. Not far from the Nana Skytrain area you do have Maxims with free wifi too. Other hotels in this area are the Bangkok Inn, President Inn and Business Inn. These three places are close together, near the Swiss Park Hotel. Near this place: http://www.bangkok-inn.com/

On the other side of Sukhumvit Road between Soi 6 and Soi 4 you have several hotels of the Orchid Group. All of those places are under 1000 baht.
    http://www.sukhumvit-psycho.com/2010/03/very-cheap-guest-friendly-hotel-bangkok-orchid-inn-sukhumvit-soi-4/

Not all cheap hotels have websites. On Sukhumvit Road, Soi 4 you have the Happy Inn for 600 baht, this hotel has A/C, hot water, private toilet and shower, TV and maid service. Like many cheaper hotels in Bangkok, some rooms are better than others. Sometimes by just booking one night allows you enough time to check out some other nearby places and change rooms.

Also in this area you have nightlife, restaurants, street vendors, malls and travel agencies where you can sign up for tours. The Skytrain can take you to MBK, Chatuchak, Patpong, connect with the subway and also take you to the Ekamai bus terminal.

This travel forum can give you more ideas on cheap hotels plus also provide info on taxi from airport, scams, tours, etc.

looking to talk cheap holladay in bangkok??????

Q: like to travel to bangkok for 10 days for as cheap as i can ..would like to have my own room not share ..how can i do this as my budget is low..heard only good about bangkok!

A: Let us know what your budget is after paying for your flight and hopefully we can suggest some rooms to meet it. I wouldn't spend all 10 days in Bangkok only. Even if you are there for the nightlife you can also find that in Pattaya along with cheaper hotels, cheaper restaurants and even cheaper transportation. Only you know how much you can spend on hotels, food, local transportation and entertainment, etc.

In Bangkok you can find a room with air beginning around 600 baht. This is a room with A/C, hot water, private toilet, TV and maid service. This usually will be a small room with little or no real view from a window, if it even has a window. A room with fan cooling only will be cheaper but also warmer and noisier too! When you have a room with A/C you keep the windows shut and the traffic noise out!

Once you pay for the plane ride a few more nights in Thailand is not all that much more expensive. Usually the cost of the flight is the biggest expense. For the trip of a lifetime I would go for a room with air, even if you have to borrow the money somehow.

You can eat pretty cheap at food courts, lunch counters in supermarkets (like Foodland and Tops,) from street food vendors and there are even lots of McDonalds and other fast food places you will be familiar with. Not to mention you can also pick up some fixings from a supermarket and make your own sandwiches or something.

Here are some travel forums you can look over. When you ask for hotel recommendations also mention how much per night you want to spend on a room. That way you will get suggestions that fits your budget.

Got your passport yet? If not don't wait until the last minute. The passport you travel under will determine if you need a visa or not. From the above TripAdvisor forum read up on visas, transportation from the airport, scams and even advice on what areas of Bangkok to stay at, etc.

Good luck.
