TIP: Travel to Washington DC – Signers Island – Constitutional Gardens
Britt ran across an interesting place in DC: She’s a travel writer and currently traveling the country for a year with husband and two kids in an RV.
She says:
We were recently in DC and stumbled on a monument that I’ve since found is relatively unknown, even to locals.
Signers’ Island in the Constitutional Gardens, between the Vietnam and WWII memorials, is a monument to the original signets of the Declaration of independence. The site itself is beautiful and uncrowded and the monument, featuring the actual signatures inlaid in rock with gold, is a powerful testament to the people who risked their lives to declare the US sovereign.
Thanks for the tip, Britt Reints
