Norwegian Breakaway’s Dining

Cagney’s Steakhouse

Succulent grilled steaks along with perfectly cooked double cut lamb chops will make your mouth water at our signature steakhouse. With an opening to view The Manhattan Room below, you can dine in style amidst the warm wood tones and comfortable leather. It’s an experience that should be savored and enjoyed at least once on your cruise.

Dolce Gelato

Slow churned, dense and intense in flavor, gelato is Italy’s answer to ice cream. And our version is the perfect accompaniment to a leisure stroll on your exploration of The Waterfront. Choose from a variety of flavors and drift off in sweet thoughts as you walk in the breeze.

La Cucina Italian Restaurant

Prefer your pasta al dente in the main restaurant, outdoors on The Waterfront or would you like to dine Atrium Al Fresco-style? The menu at La Cucina’s is casual, family-style Italian and the ambiance, including the courtyard, is Tuscan-esque complete with lanterns, timbers and stonework. Be sure to try the pizza.

Le Bistro French Restaurant

If you’ve always dreamed of dining at a sidewalk cafe in France, Le Bistro can satisfy your craving. Our new seating option, Atrium Al Fresco, is reminiscent of sidewalk-style dining – overlooking the social hub of 678 Ocean Place. Be mesmerized by the 3-story cascading LED chandelier and the constant flow of people as you dine on classic French favorites.

Moderno Churasscaria

Norwegian was first to bring this dining concept to sea, and now we’ve taken it a step further with outdoor seating at our signature Brazilian-style steakhouse. Whether you dine indoors or out, your mouth will water as different grilled and slow-roasted meats are carved tableside. Use your Moderno Green and Red Place Card to control the carving. Moderno Signature Salad display is a traditional part of any churrascaria. You’ll find a mouthwatering, bountiful selection of freshly prepared salads, artisan cheeses and more.
Moderno Signature Salad display is a traditional part of any churrascaria. You’ll find a mouthwatering, bountiful selection of freshly prepared salads, artisan cheeses and more. Green side up and the professional “Passadores” will continue to stop at your table with succulent skewers of meats. Use the red side to stop.

O’Sheehan’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill

Located on Deck 7, in the heart of the action at 678 Ocean Place, this is the place to hang out, 24/7. Serving up Irish/American classics in a relaxed, pub atmosphere, O’Sheehan’s is a guest favorite complete with billiards, darts, arcade games, TV’s and a giant two-story screen for sports and movies. The sport of people watching is popular, too.

Ocean Blu on the Waterfront

Take a seat by the sea at Ocean Blu on The Waterfront, the newest addition to our Freestyle dining lineup. Seafood lovers will rejoice at our fresh approach to menu items as well as the variety.

Ocean Blu Seafood Restaurant

Step inside the brand new Ocean Blu or experience its outdoor counterpart, Ocean Blu on the Waterfront. Tastefully nautical and temptingly delicious, it’s a new dining experience not to be missed.

Raw Bar

If you’re a fan of seafood, you will become a regular at the raw bar. Choose from a variety of offerings, served with traditional accompaniments.

Savor Restaurant

Savor, our newest Main Dining Room option is stunning in design, with colors like the setting sun over a deep blue sea. The cuisine is traditional with a contemporary flair. You’ll find Savor aft on Deck Six, on the opposite side of another Main Dining Room, Taste. And although they’re located close together, these two distinct venues offer different menus and decor, providing guests more choices than ever before. This dining option is included in the cruise fare.

Shanghai’s Noodle Bar

When you crave a taste of the Orient, think Shanghai’s Noodle Bar. You’ll find it on Deck 7, next to The Manhattan Room. Sit at the counter and let our skilled chefs prepare authentic dim sum and fried rice as you watch. It’s more than delicious, it’s fun! Order your noodles prepared in a wok or cooked to perfection in a scrumptious broth with your choice of sauces and flavors. This dining option is priced a la carte.

Taste Restaurant

Destined to become a guest favorite, Taste is a Main Dining Room serving a variety of culinary delights to please every palate. You’ll find Taste aft on Deck Six, on the opposite side of our newest Main Dining Room, Savor. With a menu that changes daily, you can enjoy a different culinary adventure with each visit to Taste. And with its close proximity to Savor, it’s easier than ever to navigate between Main Dining choices.

Teppanyaki

Dinner and a show, complete with flying shrimp and the unmistakable ting-ting-tinging sound of chef knives, can only be found at Teppanyaki, our largest Teppanyaki at sea. Admire the contemporary Asian decor if you can take your eyes off the chefs before you, preparing authentic Japanese cuisine on the oversized Hibachi grills.

The Manhattan Room

One of three Main Dining Rooms aboard Norwegian Breakaway, The Manhattan Room is designed like a private New York City supper club. This is a guest favorite with its expansive dance floor and panoramic ocean views from two-story, floor-to-ceiling windows. Stylish fixtures complement the ambiance.

Wasabi Sushi Bar

A traditional sushi bar complete with a Yakitori grill, Wasabi serves up a nice selection of popular sushi, sashimi and rolled favorites. In addition to your artfully prepared meal, you’ll find a unique contemporary decor that includes authentic calligraphy-lined walls and digital aquarium visuals that are displayed on an in-wall plasma screen. Sake fan? Check out our Sake menu for a carafe. This dining option is priced a la carte.

Norwegian Breakaway’s Bars & Lounges

Bar 21

The sounds of the slot machines and cheers of the crowd at the neighboring casino won’t distract you from noticing this stunning, intimate bar. It could easily become your favorite haunt, especially late at night.

Bliss Ultra Lounge

Cruise into the clubbing scene at Bliss. Dance to a different beat and feel the excitement as you walk through the lit tunnel to the illuminated bar. It’s electric. Bliss is a top hot spot every night of the week. Experience it.

Cafe & Bar at the Atrium

Relax in the center of the hustle and bustle of the Atrium. Linger with cocktails or coffee in this grand space that offers three-deck vertical views and a two-story Wii wall.

Maltings Beer & Whiskey Bar

Sit starboard, right alongside the sea where the view is intoxicating. Good times flow indoors, too. With a unique international variety of spirits and an impressive list of imported and domestic beers, you can sip your way around the world without leaving your chair in air-conditioned comfort.

Mixx Bar

Mingle with new friends and enjoy live piano at Mixx, a modern classical, pre-dinner gathering place between two of our most popular dining spots.

Prime Meridian Bar

Between Cagney’s Steakhouse and Moderno Churrascaria, take a seat, order your favorite beverage and be a part of the action of 678 Ocean Place.

Shaker’s Cocktail Bar

Happy hour comes shaken or stirred at this classic martini bar with a twist. Join the martini crowd for some cosmopolitan ambiance or try the latest, modern concoction made to your liking.

10 Myths About Travel Agents | Cruise with Bruce Enterprises | Travel Agent

Friday, March 8th, 2013

10 Myths About Travel Agents

Cruise with Bruce Enterprises

Affiliated with ROVIA LLC an award winning agent resource

1.    Myth: All Travel Agents and Agencies are the Same

Fact: Every travel agent is different and has a different area that they specialize in. So, depending on what type of trip you are looking to take one travel agent will suit you better than another. That’s why it is important when planning a trip to find a travel agent that specializes in where you want to go. (NOTE: Check out my webpage for more info: http://www.CruiseWithBruce.com )

2.    Myth:  No One Uses  Travel Agents Anymore

Fact: Travel agents still sell 51 percent of all airline tickets, 87 percent of all cruises, 81 percent of all tours and packages, 45 percent of all car rentals and about 47 percent of all hotels.*

3.    Myth: Travel Agents are Trying to Cheat Me if They Don’t Quote Me the Cheapest Price

Fact: Travel agents know the ins and outs of different itineraries. While you might find one that is a little bit cheaper, that cheaper itinerary might involve a whole slew of headaches.  For example, longer waits at the airport and odd travel times.  A travel agent will be looking to get you the best value for you money spent which should include the most direct and time friendly itinerary they can find. – Unless you have told them you would prefer to have the cheaper options presented as well expect value to be a factor included in the trip they plan. (NOTE: The Best Value for the Dollar Spent is my motto. As the owner of Cruise with Bruce I always try to get my clients the best value for the buck. I want you to be happy with your vacation package and if you are not, you will be calling me or you will book with someone else the next time. Cheaper is not always better.  If you find a cruise or tour for less, please let me know and I will check it out to see if it is something I would recommend.)

4.    Myth:  It is Expensive to Use a Travel Agent

Fact: The fee a travel agent charges really depends upon the agent. While some of the more luxury agencies have higher fees, the average fee is quite marginal. Some travel agents will even drop the fee or offer a discount once you have finalized your trip with them. Plus, you can always ask an agent upfront what their fees are and decide for yourself if it’s worth it. Also, it is important to remember that a lot of online booking sites, such as Orbitz and Expedia, charge a booking fee as well. Cruise with Bruce Enterprises does not normally charge a fee to book anything but an air line. Book your airline tickets by clicking here.

5.    Myth:  I Can Easily Book the Same Trip on My Own Without Using A Travel Agent.

Fact:  Although travel agents have access to all of the same outlets you would use when looking to book travel, they also have access to exclusive pricing and package deals that are most times not available to the public. Your travel agent also has more leverage in helping out in situations such as hotels claiming to be booked, when in fact they may still have rooms available that are on hold for travel agents reservations. So when everyone else is telling you “No” your travel agent can help turn that to a “Yes.”

6.    Myth: Travel Agents Don’t Have Information as Updated as the Internet

Fact: Travel agents obtain some of their information from the same sources as online booking sites such as Orbitz and Travelocity. They also receive daily emails and faxes with new specials from resorts and hotels that may not be published on the internet. Travel agents can also call a place directly to see if they can work out other kinds of special deals for you, something an online site can’t do.

7.    Myth: Travel Agents Are a Waste of Time

Fact: Although you can find much of the same information that the travel agent provides for you on your own, you are going to spend a lot of valuable time doing so.  A travel agent can actually save you from hours of painful research and price comparison shopping.  They have up to date prices, hotel conditions, and interesting new activities. Their prior knowledge and experience gives them the upper hand in trip planning.

8.    Myth: Travel Agents Have Lost Their Clout

Fact: Travel agents book hotels, cruises, and activities every day. The companies that provide these services know that and want their business and will work to keep that business coming back. So while a place might be telling you “Sorry we are booked,” for your one time trip, they are more likely to make an acceptation for the travel agent to insure that the agent sends them more business in the future.

9.    Myth:  Good Travel Agents are Hard to Find

Fact:  While there are some below par travel agents out there, Bruce Oliver and Cruise with Bruce Enterprises is available to book your custom travel experience. For over 35 years Bruce Oliver has traveled and cruised to over 40 countries around the world. Check here for customized tours and cruises to: Alaska, the Caribbean, Hawaii, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Paris.

10.    Myth:  Travel Agents Can Only Book My Flight and Hotel

Fact:  Travel agents can arrange car service, personalized tours and activities, in addition to all the basic travel services they provide. They are also excellent sources of information concerning good restaurants, good sites to see, and tips on what to pack. Cruise with Bruce Enterprises prefers not to book flights only. Here Comes Santa Claus. Really?

I was looking over the events this week and I noticed quite a few small town parades to welcome Santa. I checked and rechecked the list. I was thinking maybe I was wrong about the dates. I reran the searches again. No, it was right. How can this be? Can it be possible that the Christmas events are starting so early? Can it? Well it turns out that it isn’t really that early. I must have lost a few weeks somewhere. (No smart remarks out there like big surprise, lol). That means that Thanksgiving is about than 10 days away. Yikes!!!! I am so not ready. That also means that the shopping season is just about ready to begin as well. I heard that this year many stores are starting their Black Friday sales 5 days earlier. Does that mean in a week the crazy sales for Black Friday will be underway? Does that make them Black Sunday sales? I will choose not follow that thought any further as I am already confused. (Again, same smart remark reference from before).

I really like holiday traditions like these parades. I remember years of marching in the local Christmas Welcome Santa parades as a child. They are special, fond memories that I hold dear today. I marched in those parades as a girl scout because civic and other groups comprised most of the parade participants. I grew up in a very small town and it was wonderful to see almost the whole town come out on these occasions.

This week I am inviting you to start your Christmas season off not with shopping, but with some pre-Thanksgiving parades. They aren’t early. In fact they are right on time. If you can start a tradition this holiday of visiting a parade near you before Thanksgiving and set the tone for fond memories of your own; ones that do not begin and end with trying to find parking spaces at a mall. So grab the kids, grandma and maybe even the family dog who can sometimes attend public parades, and get out there and welcome both Santa and the season. If there are no parades on this list in your backyard, please use the search box and find some terrific welcome Santa events near you.

FROM CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES

Dear Carnival Cruisers,

We have very exciting news to share with you about our $155 million dollar makeover that will transform Carnival Destiny into Carnival Sunshine during a 49-day dry dock in Italy. Not only will the ship re-enter service in April 2013 with all of the dining, bar and entertainment elements of our groundbreaking Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement program, she’ll have several exciting new features unique to the fleet.

Among those are a new racing-themed water park featuring Carnival’s longest water slide ever, a sizzling, tropical-themed nightspot called Havana Bar, a full service Asian restaurant, and more.

Here’s a quick peek at the unique features only available on Carnival Sunshine:

  • Havana Bar, which by day serves as a casual gathering spot for relaxing with friends and enjoying Cuban coffee and Cuban finger foods such as pastelitos and croquetas, while at night transforms into a Cuban-inspired courtyard with a cool Latin vibe where guests can listen to live music, enjoy classic Cuban cocktails, and dance the night away.
  • WaterWorks, an all-new water park where the young – and the young at heart – can zip down five different slides and have a splash-tastic time with 40 different interactive water features. Here, guests can race to the finish on Carnival’s newest ride, Speedway Splash, with dual side-by-side 235-foot long slides with racers’ times projected on a scoreboard and special lighting effects that add to the adventure…and that’s just the beginning.
  • A stunning full-service Asian restaurant that will feature delicious favorites from the Far East, enhanced by a serene décor of prayer rolls, wood-beamed ceilings and other design elements, with an open kitchen where guests can view master chefs artfully prepare a tantalizing menu.
Shake Spot, the ideal place to “chill” where guests can enjoy delicious hand-crafted milkshakes while taking a break from all the fun in the sun. Shake Spot will offer classic milkshakes and floats, as well as tropical fruit shakes and “adult shakes and floats” made with Grand Marnier, Cointreau and other liqueurs.
  • JavaBlue, the place to connect, meet up and savor sweet and frothy cappuccinos, lattes, espressos and other caffeinated favorites, as well as coffees made with liqueurs, along with decadent confections such as extra-large cinnamon buns, giant cupcakes and huge slices of red velvet cake.
  • Pizzeria del Capitano is an expansion of our popular Cucina del Capitano family-style Italian restaurant and is perfect for guests who crave delicious, hand-stretched, artisanal-style pizza anytime of the day or night. The pizzeria will be open 24 hours a day and is free of charge.

Carnival Sunshine will also offer all of the exciting elements that make up our $500 million dollar Fun Ship 2.0 enhancement program including Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, BlueIguana Tequila Bar, RedFrog Rum Bar, EA Sports Bar, and the Alchemy Bar. Hug a Veteran This Week

By: Maria King
Date: November 4, 2012

I really should have said hug a veteran and active duty person every chance you get, not just this week. Through the years and wars America’s Veterans, while they were active duty members, have answered the call. There has been a lot of focus on the presidential election and rightly so. Just think that this and all of our elections were made possible by our military personnel. Do not ever forget the fact that military personnel are not only willing to give their life for their country but they give up their lives. The sacrifices are more that being on the front lines. They include separation from their family and friends, being away from the U.S and all of our lifestyle creature comforts and they sacrifice financially as military personnel traditionally are paid no where near what they could be making in the general workforce. So why do they do it? Because they feel it is important and worth whatever it takes to make sure that we continue to have free elections along with our all of our freedom. And as in previous years, I am making my pitch this Veterans Day for my readers to give consideration to making a difference in the lives of these wonderful Americans. Think about the difference they have made in yours. With the season of giving fast approaching, I wanted to ask you that if you are planning to give any donations this year, you seriously consider a donation to the USO. What they do is more than “Bob Hope” type shows. They offer a place for soldiers in transition at airports throughout the world, they deliver care packages to active duty men and woman all over the world, they have free pre-paid phone cards for frontline troops to call home, Mobile Canteens and USO2GO for remote locations to make deliveries and visits to our troops and much more. Also they spend a great deal of time focusing on bringing troops and their loved ones comfort and care. Two of their especially wonderful programs for kids are United Through Reading and The Sesame Street-USO experience. I encourage you to visit their site, www.uso.org, and learn more about these exceptional programs.

I know that times have been tough for so many people these past few years but I implore you to give the USO a look if you decide to make a charitable contribution this holiday season. Even a small contribution goes a long way. And when you think of the many sacrifices that these men and women have made and are still making, you might find it in your heart to say thanks this way.

As you read this, I am visiting Normandy France. It is a place I have always wanted to visit and I cannot think of a more appropriate destination around Veterans Day. As a show of support where ever you happen to be this week, hug a veteran and attend a ceremony, parade or festival in your area. Be sure to say, “Thanks”!

Did Someone Say “Art Show”?

By: Maria King
Date: October 29, 2012
Photo 1

Last week I mentioned that I like to attend art shows. They are a terrific opportunity to uncover hidden gems. So it seems this week, if you are anything like me, is your week. There are some wonderful art shows taking place all over the country. Maybe it is that the art is inspired by the beauty of the season. It could also be that maybe art shows are popular this time of year because of possible holiday gift ideas. I really am not sure the reason why but who cares what the reason? It’s a lucky time of year for us.If you have never been to a juried art event, I highly recommend that you make plans. These events feature regionally and sometimes nationally known artists in the art show community. The artists that apply are required to submit photos or examples of their works to an acceptance “jury” in order to get invited as an exhibitor. Everything the artist showcases must be original works. In almost every case, artists cannot have just a “sales” person at the booth but are required to be present as well. I love that fact that you can speak with the artist. You cannot imagine how much of an impact it will have on what you purchase when you get to meet the person that created it. Years ago, and we will not be discussing how many, I had an opportunity to meet one of my childhood heroes at a special artists’ reception. It was Chuck Jones. Every cartoon lover knows who Chuck Jones is and that he was the head animator and director of almost every Warner Brothers, Merry Melodies cartoon. The chance to buy a piece of art from the classic, “Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas” was heaven alone but to speak with Mr. Jones was a dream come true. He was generous enough take a photo with me and also wrote a personal note. Both framed with the artwork. It was a very personal connection for me to my childhood and meeting Mr. Jones along with hearing some stories about the productions was a fantastic experience I will never forget.

That personal connection is what these shows offer and what makes them so appealing to so many. The fact that you can speak with the artist gives you a better understanding of their work and maybe where the inspiration came from for him to produce. Imagine if when you paid a visit to an art museum filled with masterpieces, you could speak with the artist. How great would it be to speak with Michelangelo or DaVinci? Think of what you might ask or say given the chance. I for one would want to speak to Picasso for an explanation about certain pieces, lol. Anyway, I am not saying that you will meet the next Michelangelo at one of these shows, then again, you never know. I bet people who were alive at the time of Michelangelo, couldn’t imagine that he would become known as one of the greatest artists of all time.

As always, the events listed here are from all over the U.S. to be used as a guide to what is going on this week. Use the search box above to find things going on in your area. Get your “eye for art” out, grab a fellow art lover and get to an art event this week. (And no cracks about why my childhood hero created cartoons, lol. It’s a tale of misspent youth).

BOO-levard of Fun Events for Halloween

Ok I apologize for that title but I didn’t want to do Spooktober, Howl-o-Ween, Fright Night etc, etc, etc. It might not be great but at least it’s original! Can anyone guess where a holiday that features free candy at every front door in the U.S. ranks on my “favorite” holiday list? LOL well you might think at the top but not really. There are a lot of food centric holidays and it really hard to pick just one.

My affection for Halloween encompasses more than just my love of candy. ( I want to make it clear however I am not discounting that part, just bypassing it for this blog) It is just that I was always a little disappointed in my costumes as a kid and it wasn’t until years later that I realized they were, in fact, really great. Few things are more fun then watching kids parade the streets Trick or Treating wearing their favorite super hero, cartoon or Disney character costume. My costumes were always custom made because my mom is a seamstress. I always envied those kids who could be anything they wanted by going to Woolworths and getting a costume in a box with a mask. I was always limited by what few selections were available in the McCall’s pattern books. Also I never had a really cool mask. Just a smaller version of the one the Lone Ranger wore. But looking back I realize that my mom spent more time and money doing it that way and they really were quite wonderful costumes. I guess I was just too young to appreciate them. Today homemade costumes are all the rage. Who knew? My mom, the trend setter!

The events that I have chosen this week are all excellent examples of Halloween fun and fright. I tried to mix up the variety with a few parades, some scary attractions and some festivals. Most are wonderful fun for the whole family but please check the descriptions or call ahead before you assume that it is family friendly. Halloween after all is a “scare”fest and some attractions might be too much for children and some of us adults! And then others are geared for a more “adult” crowd because of some outrageous costumes so beware. As always, these events are some great examples of what is taking place this week all around the country. You can use the search box above to find out what events are taking place in your backyard so you can enjoy the holiday. Why not grab your ghosts and goblins and have some “spooktacular” fun? Oops, sorry, that just sort of slipped out.

Oct 19, 2012 – Oct 28, 2012

Last week I mentioned the Hershey Car Show as one show tailor made for car lovers. It occurred to me that there are a bunch of events taking place each week that focus on things people love. That’s what makes the event selection process so much fun. We all know that I love food and therefore food events. But lesser known is that I like to walk antique shows and art shows for some great finds which I have purchased over the years. Events can be something for everyone or can be something special someone really loves to do. Although I always advise people to experience all different kinds of events, this week I am going to highlight some events and who should/will attend and why. There are the Jacksonville Sea and Sky Spectacular Jacksonville, FL and the Amigo Airshow in El Paso TX, for people who love to see planes both on the ground and in the air. The Petit Le Mans in Braselton, GA and the Head of the Charles Regatta Cambridge, MA for people who love racing. They feature world class cars at the former; world class sculling at the latter. In Daytona Beach FL this week is Biketoberfest for people who like to ride or gaze at motorcycles. I have been to this event and it’s perfect for bike lovers. In Fort Lauderdale this week is one of the very best art shows all year the Las Olas Art Fair for people who love creative, original and current artists. There is the Stone Mountain Highland Games event in Stone Mountain, GA for those who love all things Scottish and Oktoberfest in Tulsa OK for those that love all things German. Also, let’s not leave out the Texas Jazz Fest in Corpus Christi, TX for those that love jazz.

I know you have been waiting so here they are; food events! If you happen to be in Circleville OH and you love pumpkin pies (over 23,000) and pumpkin donuts (over 100,000) you won’t want to miss the Circleville Pumpkin Show. If you can’t make that event, there are many other food events. How about the East Texas Yamboree in Gilmer, TX? That is, if yams are your thing. Personally I love um! Another option is to head to Chatsworth NJ if you love everything cranberry. They host their annual Cranberry Festival where the harvest is in just in time for the holiday season.

And finally, for all of you who remember when your mother used to ask, “If all of your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump?”, this week you can say “YES”. That’s because it’s time for the annual New River Gorge Bridge Day in Fayetteville, WV. It is one of the biggest B.A.S.E. jumping events of the year. Thousands of people are leaping off the bridge and I think it’s for the thrill, not to spite their mothers. However, I could be wrong.

As always, this information is to give you some things that are taking place all over the U.S. to get you excited about events this week. I know I mentioned that these events are for people who love certain activities but really any and all of these are great events for everyone. So I think that you need to grab someone you love and find out what event themes work for them. Then use the search box above and find some terrific events in your area this week.

I saw a show in Hershey PA this week and I got so excited. You know, “the sweetest place on earth”, “Hershey Park Happy, “Chocolate Town USA. All of you know how phrases like these get my attention. But the real like here is cars not candy. The Hershey Car Show is the Grand-Daddy of them all for people who like cars; I mean love cars. This show features lots of cars, parking lots of cars. And an added benefit is that, if you attend the Hershey Car show some of that candy might find its way into your shopping bags.Well I know that you think I am all about food, which would not be an incorrect statement. But food festivals are my favorites not only because they feature food, but because they are really great event themes. In my travels, I like to eat at local food places. It gives me a chance to experience local food the way that locals eat. That is one of the reasons food festivals are so great and why I love them. The popular food of the area is out for all to see and eat. And other local “side” dishes add to the color like music, dancing art, etc. This week there are some excellent examples going on around the U.S. The National Shrimp Fest in Gulf Shores AL, the Gumbo Festival in Bridge City , LA, the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville, the Apple Butter Festival in Grand Rapids, MI and the Rice Harvest Festival in Katy, TX, just to name a few. Each of these is a good time to eat your way through an afternoon while soaking up the local culture.

In the category of “other” there are a few really great events; The Antiques and Collectibles Show in Atlantic City, NJ, the Hispanic Day Parade in NYC and the Richmond Folkfest in Richmond, VA. These are all wonderful examples of events following these themes and are a very good opportunity if these are your hobby or passion.

And as promised, I have a few more fall related events to feature this week, as well. The Way Out West Oktoberfest in Tempe AZ, the Half Moon Bay Art and Pumpkin Festival in Half Moon Bay, CA, the Autumn Glory Festival in Oakland, MD and the Covered Bridge Festival in Winterset, IA.

As always, these events are for information about what is going on all around the US. I hope each week they inspire you to search what might be going on in your area that you can attend this week. Simply use the search box above to find terrific events in your backyard. So grab your family, friends or person(s) you love, and get to an event this week.

Oct 10, 2012 – Oct 13, 2012
