News Release – Bob and Barbara, two of my Cruise Ship Reporters, leave on Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas cruise to Bermuda for a relaxing vacation. Yes, today even although a storm is on the way to the Northeast. When I called RCL to check on their status they said that they were being taken care of.
Bob called me from the ship and said that last year Hurricane Irene followed them back to the port and this year they will leave NJ just ahead of this year’s hurricane. They are looking forward to an enjoyable, relaxing vacation where ever they end up this week.
As Diamond Club Members in Royal Caribbean’s frequent cruiser program I was able to get Bob and Barb bonus points, on board credits and an upgrade to a suite. After boarding the ship today, Royal Caribbean informed them that they have been upgraded again to a higher level suite.
[slider_ads id=2]I look forward to hearing from Bob after he gets back. I appreciate his business and will continue to send him his year long subscription to my 48-page full-color home, decor and travel magazine. As Associate Cruise Ship Reporter’s they will be able to participate in all of the benefits of the Cruise Ship Reporter program. CLICK HERE FOR INFO
Markus, Cathy and family on deck with an officer on the Carnival Inspiration Cruise Liner on their cruise to Baja. The family took some time to cruise and relax on the 3-day cruise originating in Long Beach, California.
Happy 13th Birthday to Margaret. Glad you had a great time.
CRUISE TIPS -
Markus said that he had wished he had booked the shore excursion prior to sailing as I suggested. Many people wait until they get on the ship to book their shore excursions only to find out that many of the shore excursions have filled to capacity. Sometimes a cruise line will open another tour but many times they will not. This leaves less options to enjoy your vacation at port. Cruise with Bruce Enterprises will always provide you with all of the information needed to enjoy your cruise. We will also provide other options that require more work on your part. You decide.
Markus, Noah and Margaret with a ship officer aboard the Carnival Inspiration. Happy Birthday Margaret! Cathy at camera.
Family of Cruise Ship Reporters leave Long Beach on a Weekend Cruise to Mexico
Carnival Inspiration Cruise - 3 Days Baja Mexico from Long Beach, CA
Markus and Cathy will enjoy the tropical beauty of Baja with a 3 day cruise to Ensenada with their family. They plan to relax on Ensenada's private beaches before hitting the fashionable shops of Avenida Primera for new jewelry – duty-free, of course. And of course they will celebrate a birthday for their daughter on board the ship with a crew party.
Ensenada, one of Mexico's most successful cities, has grown from a sleepy fishing village to become a popular beach resort. This oft-visited Baja destination is a multifaceted jewel. Among its most popular locations are the waterfront promenade, the fashionable shops of Avenida Primera, and the winery of Bodega Santo Tomas, founded by the Dominicans in 1888. La Bufadora, a natural sea geyser located nearby, puts on a highly dramatic show.
What would inspire you to take a “Fun Ship” cruise aboard CARNIVAL INSPIRATION?
How about a 9-hole mini golf course, the family-fun of Carnival WaterWorks, a tropical resort-style pool - and when you need some pampering and quiet time - a Serenity-Adult Only Retreat. And, as always... the delicious dining, entertainment, friendly service, and - of course - the beautiful destinations that Carnival cruises are famous for.

Activities in Branson Missouri vary based on season!
Here’s an account of one person’s Recent Branson Visit:
We just returned from a four day visit to Branson. This was my first trip. We were very impressed with the picturesque scenery the closer and closer we got to the city. The trees were just beginning to blossom in white, pink and purple flowers. The weather was in the 70s and we did not ever need a sweater or jacket, even at night.
The atmosphere of Branson is very family friendly. It was so much more laid back and refreshingly wholesome, compared to the cheap glamor and glitz of Las Vegas. The regular/big named shows begin April/May, but we really enjoyed I the Pierce Arrow Show, Clay Cooper Show and the Dixie Stampede @ Dolly Parton’s theatre. We also visited the Butterfly Palace where we walked through a live butterfly habitat exhibit … butterflys were all around us. The one hour video on the life and habits of the monarch butterfly greatly inhanced our appreciation for our tour. The Butterfly Palace includes interesting exhibits of rain forrest critters, a mirror maze and great gift shop. We also road the Ducks (WWII terrain vehicles) that take visitors through a tour of the Branson and then it splashes into the lake for more siteseeing.
Branson offers a very relaxed destination and lots of family activities for all ages. Branson’s attractions are nicely spread out throughout a wide area. Many are within walking distance along the strip for easy access & convenience, while others are situated through out the rolling terrain.
Early Springtime was a perfect time to visit Branson. The temperatures were modest and without humidity.
We very much enjoyed the staff and accommodations of the Savanna House. It was located up on the hills overlooking the Ozarks. (ten minutes from the main strip) The Savanna’s scenic outdoor seating area overlooked the mountains and offered great sunset viewing. We loved the free breaksfast and evening desserts. We would go back there anytime.
Branson is very very refreshing vacation desitination for many reasons. We would go back anytime. How beautiful those rolling hills must be when in Fall colors!!
Marilyn B Belleghem had some great tips that she gave on my Catch-Up Corner segment of my program about going to Branson Missouri with her husband recently. She Said:
“My husband and I went to Branson a year ago and we were there just before the major shows opened. We had a timeshare exchange and stayed at the Welk Resort. It has an amazing indoor pool and activity area. http://www.welkbranson.com/ I believe space can also be rented. It is new and nicely done but there isn’t much within walking distance.
Lots of restaurants, the Titanic exhibit was good and the outlet mall had some good stores but many were closed and empty.”
Thanks Marilyn

Branson Missouri has golf, shows, water parks, meals and ziplining.
Janeen says we represent Branson’s Area Golf Council. And she says that there are a few things to consider when going to Branson:
* You must see Silver Dollar City: the amusement park celebrated 50 years and its combination of local craftsman, regional music and amusement parks is truly one of a kind.
* Branson Landing is a great, central location for those who enjoy hotel rooms. It’s within walking distance of a variety of restaurants for a lively nightscene (complete with the dancing water display) and within walking distance of the historic downtown. Definitely visit the Bass Pro Shop along the water.
* You must go to old Branson – especially the five and dime. Come with a list of things you couldn’t possibly find there, and then go on a scavenger hunt. Love that place, and the small hometown breakfast places that dot the streetscapes.
* See the Baldknobbers – they’re historic and give you a great feel of this community, and how it began. All the shows are excellent and entertaining.
* Do visit Big Cedar Resort, especially for dinner. It boasts one of the most beautiful views of Lake Taneycomo you’ll find anywhere in Branson.
* Ziplining is a lot of fun here, with a wealth of trees canopied over the runs. Many think of Branson for its shows, but you really should experience the great outdoors.
* Do go to Dogwood Canyon – rent a bike and bring a picnic. There’s a lovely tiny little wedding chapel that faces a waterfall, and is a place for special moments. You’ll understand why Johnny Morris loved this place after seeing it.
* Do play golf: because most of the celebrities play before they go onstage. What you’ll find is down-to-earth, salt-of-the-earth hard workers with good family values. Not one of them is protected by an agent. (Even Andy Williams lives right on a golf course and plays every morning he can).
* Do visit College of the Ozarks for dinner: the students run the restaurant at what’s known as “I work U” – free tuition in return for hard labor on campus. They’ve built sewer lines, furniture, take care of the hotel and even bake the bread. If you’re looking for hope from the next generation, you won’t find a better example anywhere else.
Thanks for the great tips Janeen, Branson seems to be a hidden gem found by a growing number of travelers in the United States.

Talking about Branson…. Pamela says Just back from my first trip to Branson, MO. They Loved it. She says:
“it’s a very friendly and welcoming town, and everyone was in a fantastic frame of mind. Though it was hit by that tornado, they are
quickly repairing the damage, and the shows are Open and entertainment is outstanding.
She says We stayed at the Savannah Inn Hotel and very pleased. Staff very helpful and attentive. What a welcome and the place is Quiet, beautiful, spectacular outdoor seating overlooking the Ozarks. We loved their Free and abundant breakfast each morning and the warm cobbler & ice cream each night.
We attended the Dixie Stampede show – WOW..everything from horse tricks, roping, live buffalo, steers, barrel racing, salute to America & those special soldiers and veterans who help keep America Free. What a wonderful dinner – 4 courses and delicious. The waiters are great. The room setup around a huge arena, one side is North and the other South. The MC gets the room shouting from one side to the other. Audience participation with adults and kids chosen to come into the arena for competitions…and the winners give North & South much to cheer about and WIN. SO MUCH FUN!
Loved the Pierce Arrow show – can those guys sing. And not bad on the eyes either! What a variety of songs, music and a real crowd pleasing show! High spirited and the theater intimate enough to make you feel you are up close and very welcomed!
Our last nite shows was Clay Cooper in his own Theater. Such a variety in his voice, styles and collective entertainers in his cast! He paid tribute to Glenn Campbell performing many of Glen’s hits, and to Conway Twitty…some of the ole standard Country hits. His dancers were excellent, and had their own segments. Clay’s wife, Tina is head choreographer of the Dancers and she and Clay did a beautiful dance/singing number.
She says: I wouldn’t Miss any of these shows…well done, very professional, and loads of fun and excitement. Branson offers many many shops for gifts, unique decor and outdoor lifestyles. Branson is a place we will return without a doubt. Easy, laid-back atmosphere, and much rides, attractions and restaurants for the entire family.
Our favorite restaurant is McFarlains. Such a variety of foods, flavors and wonderful atmosphere – WE LOVED IT. We even loved the Ride the Ducks amphibian rider that takes you thru and around Branson sightseeing and then SPLASH right into the river…Awesome and most educational!
How could I forget to mention the Butterfly Palace. What an educational adventure. Most informative video on the Monarch Butterflies and their lives, migration to Mexico. There is a wonderful exhibit of reptiles – turtles, scorpions, lizards, snakes, in very green habitat. Once you enter the enclosed butterfly room you won’t believe your eyes. Butterflies of all sizes, shapes and colors. they are everywhere and some even land on your shoulder. Be sure to have your camera ready – spectacular. This place has two mazes..we tried the Glass Mirror Maze WOW..it’s tricky but what a challenge. We made It!
We heard that a Wild Life Park is opening soon that you are able to drive thru. A theme park with all kinds of entertainment from rides, shows, shops, food, and thrills. Branson, MO is a real family place – clean in landscaping, clean shows, family promoting and patriotic! Who could ask for more!
She can’t say enough of Branson and it’s beauty, entertainers of all kinds, and the warmth of those who live and work there! Welcome is their middle name! Don’t miss Branson Missouri – we are going back! Well we loved our entire time at Branson.
Thanks for the great information Pamela. My listeners really appreciate it.
Branson Missouri is a GREAT place for families with kids to vacation!
Interested in going on a vacation to Branson Missouri? Well Marty says: “My family travels to Branson a couple of times per year. Here are my thoughts and tips:
Tip #1 Branson is a GREAT place for families with kids to vacation. It’s clean, friendly, fun and family-oriented.
Tip #2 We’ve yet to see a show there we haven’t enjoyed. However, some of our most favorite venues are Titanic Museum,
Dixie Stampede, New Shanghai Circus, Legend of Kung Fu and any of the MANY go-kart tracks.
Tip #3 The venues in Branson are very accommodating to those who are differently-abled. As the parent of a Deaf child, I
am been blown away at the accommodations the attractions have made to ensure my child has the best experience. This
was especially true of Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede.
Tip #4 Branson is great for families on a budget. There are enough activities that are free or nearly free to keep a family
busy for days. Recommendations include the fish hatchery, watching the “Water Fountain Spectacular’ on Branson Landing,
and of course fishing and hanging out on the lake.
