Every year more than 10,000 people attempt to climb to the top of the 14,410 foot summit of Mount Rainier. Only about 5,000 actually make it to the top. It is a dangerous climb that most people underestimate because thus do no not take into consider action the the altitude or rough and rocky terrain. According to the Park Service paper for Mount Rainier, climbers pay a Cost Recovery fee of $15 per person, per climb or $25 for an annual pass.
